Hard Drive

My hard drive died last week (and so far, the recovery process is not looking good). This wouldn’t be so bad if I’d been keeping up with my back-ups, but I haven’t been. It’s been about a year since I’ve backed anything up. I have no good excuse. It’s been on my list of things to do, but it’s always on a list that can come later, and it wasn’t until it was too late that I realized it’s been a year that I’ve been thinking, “yeah, I’ll do that next week.”

It is stressful because if I can’t recover everything it will be a lot of work to regroup and get all my contacts again, I’ll have lost all the pictures of our trip to Peru and all the writing and journals I’ve kept since we moved into the new house, plus all the pictures of the new house and the critters that have made their home here. That’s all really frustrating, but it is just information–just a computer. It’s not living, and it certainly isn’t the end of the world.
