Give Up Sugar

Since February is the shortest month of the year, I pick that month to try a different challenge.  Lately, I’ve been addicted to sugar a little more than is normal for me and definitely more than is healthy.  So I knew I wanted to give up sugar (in the form of dessert, sugary snacks and beverages, not in general cooking).  I also knew I wouldn’t stick to it on my own.

So I asked if anyone in my classes wanted to do it too.  A handful of people agreed (there was no coercion) to join me.  Then I posted about it on Facebook.  And though a number of friends turned me down, a number also said yes.  We have about twenty people holding strong to no sugar for the month.

And it’s been a help, just knowing that I’m not doing it alone.  Having someone besides myself to hold me accountable.  I definitely would have grabbed a handful of chocolate chunks on day one, two and three if I didn’t know there were people along for the ride with me.

In life it’s always good to know you’re not alone.  And having a team is always helpful.

It’s never too late to join in the fun!

Thank you for giving your time to stop and read my blog. I hope it encourages you to keep moving. Move and the body will be happier. And when you're moving you can hike, run, swim in Jell-O, race over non-Newtonian fluids, travel the world or build igloos--if that's your thing. If not, you can watch me do it. This is just a spot to try and feel good about life.
