Chances are if you’re reading this you are breathing (or you were in very recent history). Stop for a moment and notice where your breath goes. Does it going into your shoulders? Your belly? Your chest? Are you holding your breath?
Try to direct your breath to the sides and back of your rib cage. Think of your ribs like an accordion, opening sideways. Or think of an umbrella opening up and out. Try yawning. That might help you find the lateral breath pattern. Breathing into the sides and backs of your ribs isn’t the only way to breath, but it’s one way. Try it and see how it feels in your body.
