Ornament history

The tree on the corner of Church and Main in Old Wethersfield.

I love Christmas time.  My family is fun to spend time with.  Tradition is comforting.  Getting gifts for family, though a bit overwhelming, is mostly fun.  My favorite part of the season is taking moments to just stop and observe.  I love to sit in my living room with a hot cup of tea or hot chocolate or hot tea with chocolate and stare at the tree.  I love to turn off all the lights and stare at anyone’s tree.  Which sounds a little creepy, but normally only people who know me let me in their house to stare.  Seeing all the houses aglow and the lights in yards and along streets makes the cold days better. I wish people left their lights on until mid-March.  This from a girl who doesn’t put any Christmas lights up, but once someone has, they really should let them linger longer.

The Ornament:

This year as we decorated our tree, a tradition I love, I thought about how ornaments began.  The Christmas tree came from Germany, and not surprisingly so did the ornament.  If […]

Matt: My Favorite Person

This Saturday Matt and I celebrated 11 years together.  He is a joy and my favorite friend.  He is a big part of Personal Euphoria because Matt encouraged me to take the leap and quit my day job to start PE and begin teaching Pilates full time.

One of our favorite pastimes is to stroll around Old Wethersfield.  We love doing it so much we moved here.  In all our travels we have yet to find a town where we enjoy walking as much.  Not only does Old Wethersfield have such a quaint New England feel, but it’s flat and you can walk forever.  We have a three mile and five mile loop that we do regularly.  In my experience it’s hard to find a place where you can walk on sidewalks, have great views. and walk that far without repeating yourself.

Walking is good for our health, but it’s also good for our minds.

Free Pilates in Wethersfield

I always love our mini outdoor session of Pilates.  I’ll admit I’m a sucker for Old Wethersfield—a spectacular place to spend time.  This year so far we’ve had a great turn out.  Thanks to everyone who has made it so far.  Remember—we have one more class this Saturday.  Hope we get to meet you there.

And consider saving time for a walk afterward or breakfast at Aroma Bistro.  Or come back for lunch at Lucky Louie’s followed by ice cream at the Wethersfield Creamery.  The Cove Deli it also a great place for sandwiches and salads, all of which have fun names.

Comstock Ferre–Heirloom Garden

So last summer my cousin helped me (by which I mean my cousin did almost all the work) build me a two tiered garden.  And now this spring I want to plant, plant, plant.  My goal is to do an entire garden of heirloom vegetables, but I don’t have a green thumb so I’m a tad nervous.   I am open to any and all advice.
I went into Comstock Ferre in Old Wethersfield today.  They are the oldest seed company in the country.  There packages of seeds look like art.  It’s really a beautiful place.   I highly recommend you stop by some time, especially if you like to garden, like antiques, or unique artisan crafts.   I bought a book on heirloom gardening that I can’t wait to read.  I plan to […]

Naturopathic Physician

I went to a Naturopath for the first time a couple weeks ago.  I was really impressed.  I’m a skeptical person and I was partially concerned (and perhaps stereotyping) that by the time I walked out the door I would be expected to never eat meat again, go gluten-free, and have a handbag full of supplements.  I was concerned about this even though multiple people had recommended Marina Franzoni to me and told me she was the kind of person who felt like your friend right away.  If I’m honest I was a little skeptical of that too.
But everyone had told me the truth.  I felt comfortable with Marina Franzoni in ten seconds.  It seemed easy to tell her everything about anything that had ever gone on in my body.  She listened without brushing anything off as if it didn’t matter.  She took notes and made suggestions.  She told me that she didn’t push anyone to be vegan or vegetarian (although she is […]
