Healthy, Happy 4th of July

Here are just a few tips to try and get through the 4th of July with a little more health and wellness. Try using any ideas that work for you.
• Start the morning with a workout (run, walk, do your own routine at home, swim)

• Hydrate (remember your urine should be light yellow all day)

• Pick only one dessert, not all the desserts at the picnic (commit to this before you go)

The 4th of July in France

I was in France for the 4th of July. We were staying with a group of friends and family outside the town of Fiox where my friend Isa grew up. Rightly so, we hosted a 4th of July party for Isa’s French family and friends. We had all the usual fare—chips, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, steamed mussels, and even s’mores. 4th of July Without Carbs!

I’m out of the country, so it may not be entirely fair of me to request this, but have you ever considered a carb-free 4th of July? Or a reduced carb 4th of July?

I’m not anti-carb, but as you already know, I do like little challenges that I randomly create for myself. And I know we tend to consume more than usual on holidays, so having a plan that helps keep us on track would be good.

Even if you didn’t want to cut out all carbs, could you eat your hotdog or hamburger sans bun? Can you pick your three favorite picnic sides and eat only them, instead of taking some of everything?

Just some thoughts to help keep your 4th a little healthier. Whatever you decide, have a Happy and Healthy 4th of July!
