Inhale and Exhale

Do you know how long you can inhale and exhale? Controlling the breath is part of Pilates. Try it now. Sit with your legs crossed and a long spine. Relax your arms on your legs.

Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds
Exhale out the mouth for 4 seconds.

Repeat, but this time inhale and exhale for 5 seconds, then 6, then 7, then 8 and so one until you hit a number you can’t maintain. Practice this daily and try to improve. Keep the breath steady. What number can you get to with a little practice?
