Exercise of the Week–Belly Button to Spine

This is more of a reminder exercise than one of our typical exercises. This week, challenge yourself to keep a list of every time you pulled your belly button to your spine. Start today and by Friday try to have engaged your core more each day.

This is one of the basic principles of Pilates so it is important to stop and think about it. It actually takes some focus. Feel your entire core engage–from rib cage to public bone.

Remember all the places you can engage it–walking, at red lights, pumping gas, at the fax machine, in the shower, at church, during Pilates class, during dinner, while the microwave is going. The list is endless There are so many place to fit it in, you just have to remember to do it.

It’s simple and wonderful for you body!
