Questions About Joseph Pilates

Last night in class some folks were asking questions that I wasn’t sure of the answers.

I did a little research and here is the scoop:

1) Joseph Pilates was German, not Polish.

2) He moved to England in 1912 and during WWI he and other Germans were detained in a camp by the British authorities. This is where the Pilates method is credited with taking shape. He trained other prisoners in the camp. The camp, on the Isle of Man, housed POW’s and internees.

If you have other questions about Joseph Pilates (the man or his method of exercise), let me know and I’ll try to get the answers. You can comment on the blog or ask me in class.

Thank you for giving your time to stop and read my blog. I hope it encourages you to keep moving. Move and the body will be happier. And when you're moving you can hike, run, swim in Jell-O, race over non-Newtonian fluids, travel the world or build igloos--if that's your thing. If not, you can watch me do it. This is just a spot to try and feel good about life.
