Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Okay, do you already get the point? Today is going to be a good day to hydrate especially if you are going to exercise. When temperatures are teetering on the 100 mark, I don’t think you have to worry too much about over hydration. You can over hydrate and rid your body of much needed electrolytes, but when it’s so hot you sweat from merely blinking your eyelids, you probably have nothing to worry about.

If you’re worried, pace yourself. Think about how often you urinate, you should probably visit the rest room about as often as you do on a typical day. The extra water you are drinking today is to replenish what you lose from sweating. Also, space it out. Don’t consume a gallon in ten minutes. Think about your lifestyle. Do you spend most of your day in air conditioning where the heat wont effect you? If so, you don’t need to adjust your drinking habits on a hot day, but if you’re going to head out for your typical walk at the end of the day, it would probably be wise to take along a bottle of water.

Also, think of anyone who has to face the heat while you’re away. Extra water for the pets might be a nice treat on a hot day. Try and keep cool. And don’t opt out of exercise, just be prepared with water or a sports drink.
